Take time to check the gallery. Many beautiful works. I adore how *
Kaytara incorporates a dragon into the landscape.... as if the dragon is silently watching you without giving itself away. (

I saw this picture moments ago as a daily deviation thumbnail and thought, "Woah Nellie!"
I was afraid to critique this because there is simply nothing wrong with it and that I wouldn't be able to make it to one hundred words of typing. This art leaves me nearly speechless, and I intend to explore your gallery for more wondrous art such as this. You have just widened the horizon of my imagination. And I am very grateful for that. Thank you for creating this piece. It is truly a wonder of deviantart.com.
Okay, folks, lemme start off with this. As far as I'm conerned, this piece, by
I'm sure we're all familiar with the famed hill from the Nightmare Before Christmas, a strange thing with a tip curling in a downward spiral. Compositionally, this calls back that same hill, though the great earthen dragon's head swoops upward instead, toward the sun, and toward our small figure lost in his own thoughts.
Technique used here is evidentally a speed paint with a special emphasis on grass textures. While it would undoubtedly be well within the artist's ability to paint individual baldes of grass, this would be somewhat inefficient, especially for such a texturally ambitious project.
Overall, this piece shows a great deal of skill combined with a love of the form. I think we painters of the fantastic can all learn something from this.
